Fall weather finally kicked in over the weekend… and it’s colder than I remember. I still love it, though, and I ended up spending a bit more time outside than I have the last couple weekends. There was still plenty of time to stay entertained thanks to the various screens in my apartment, though.
Fortnite Battle Royale
I can’t play PUBG, but Fortnite Battle Royale has made me understand why people are crazy about it. The game’s a blast, and I’ve had some truly exhilarating moments—many of which didn’t even involve other players. I haven’t won yet, but I’ve gotten close a couple times. It doesn’t matter, though. Winning won’t bring me anywhere close to the thrill of escaping the storm with four health points remaining, finding bandages, healing, and eventually finishing in third.
I’ll be playing this one a lot more.
I spent what felt like an eternity trying to get past Alphabear‘s seventh chapter, and I finally did it this weekend. It didn’t bring me joy or a sense of accomplishment so much as it just made me feel even more trapped in Alphabear‘s grips until I finish all eleven chapters.
Yes, I have a problem. But I haven’t spent any money on it and I won’t, so at least it’s not as bad as it could be.
Yep. Again. Or still. I’m not sure anymore.
My wife and I are three episodes deep into Netflix’s true crime satire American Vandal, and we’re loving it. Its comedy is just subtle enough
Saturday Night Live
The season premiere of SNL‘s 43rd season was solid and enjoyable, but it was far from flawless. Highlights of the show include the always worth watching Weekend Update, specifically Michael Che’s blasting of Donald Trump, Ryan Gosling’s inability to stay in character across the board, The Fliplets, and Kate McKinnon going to town on Gosling’s ass.
There’s a lot to like about this show, even if Alec Baldwin’s continued appearances as Trump have shifted toward essentially restating the actual president’s tweets because it’s hard to do worse than that.
Highlight: Saturday Night Live. The season premiere had a couple misses, particularly the chicken/film noir sketch, but it had me laughing more often than not. That counts for a lot these days.
On the way: Blade Runner 2049 has all my attention come Friday, although I’m looking forward to The Mountain Between Us too. I’m going to be diving back into Dishonored: Death of the Outsider as much as I can manage this week, though Fortnite Battle Royale is likely to pop up pretty frequently too.
What did you watch and play this weekend? Let me know in the comments.
